Die neuen Bremsen finde ich den interessantesten Aspekt an de neuen Dura Ace. Mal sehen, ob daraus ein Trend wird, wie 1991 aus den Dual Pivot Bremsen von Shimano (BR 7403). Dual Pivot haben zwei Gelenkachsen um die sich die Bremszangen drehen, eine davon ist mittig und fixiert die Bremse zudem am Rahmen. Bei den neuen Dura Ace Bremsen ist das anders: Es gibt weiterhin zwei Achsen für die Bremszangen, diese sind aber getrennt von der Befestigung am Rahmen. Dies könnte, ähnlich wie bei alten MAFAC Mittelzugsbremsen, eine symetrische Belastung und Bewegung der Bremszangen ermöglichen.
